Meet John & Mary
Hello, we're John & Mary Mellas, the husband & wife photography team behind Mellas Media! Two years ago, in the crazy time that was 2020, we got married and put our combined 15 years of photography experience to good use by starting a business together. It seemed a little crazy at first, but we have been blessed to photograph so many beautiful people and celebrations since that time. From weddings, to baptisms, to family portraits, it's been the privilege of a lifetime to document so many beautiful moments. We are based in Western New York (Buffalo Area) but are always open to travel.
Our Faith
We are both Orthodox Christians, so photographing Orthodox events is one of our specialties. Knowing the services and catching all of the key moments is so important - and we have the experience to make that happen. All that to say, we are not exclusively booking Orthodox events. If in doubt just reach out to us! We'd love to talk over the possibilities of preserving those memories for you.
Get to Know Us
We met because of photography! John was the photographer at an Orthodox young adult retreat we both attended. Mary was shy but she knew she would have a common area of interest with John since he was holding a camera, so she went to talk to him. Needless to say we fell in love, and the rest is history!
When we're not photographing our sweet clients, you can find us checking out a new hiking trail, building Legos, cheering on the Bills and the Sabres, or helping out at our Church. We also love a good TV show (our current favorite is Gravity Falls).
